FLOWER-Class
corvette
ordered from Fleming & Ferguson at
Paisley on 27th July 1939. She was laid
down
on 25th October that year and was launched
on 24 April 1940 as the second RN warship to
bear this
name.
It had been introduced in 1915 for a Sloop
which was
sold in 1930. Build of this ship was
completed
on
19th July 1940. In February 1942 she was
adopted by the civil
community of Tiverton, Devon after
a
successful WARSHIP WEEK National Savings
Campaign.
