Pendant Numbers

(by Vessel Name here)

Admiralty Numbers

Motor Boat Numbers

Fishing Port Registration Numbers

1. All identification numbers listed as pendant numbers by Dittmar and Colledge have been included here. The exception are the Mercantile Fleet Auxiliaries - many ships served in a number of roles with different numbers.

2. Many of the pendant numbers were reused. Wherever listed, the date of issue is given in brackets, and the pendant numbers in date order.

3. The pendant numbers are a mix of numerics and alphanumeric, with or without a flag superior, i.e. the prefix letter. They will not sort easily and are therefore arranged in the following order - all Numeric e.g. F.00 or F.01, then Numeric-Alpha e.g. F.0A or F.1A, finally Alpha-Numeric e.g. F.A0 or F.A1.

4. * replaced by submarine class/number, mid-1915

5. ** 1.18, no pendant assigned 6.18

I make no claim to understand the intricacies of pendant numbers - Gordon Smith, Naval-History.Net
