UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS CASUALTIES

Part 1 - BY NAME 1941-45, UCCIARDI to VROMAN

Peleliu (USMC, click to enlarge) return to US Navy Casualties, WW2
  or to World War 2

Direct to Part 1 - by NAME:

This list of Marine Corps casualties - those who died or were killed - is compiled from:
  • USMC Casualty Cards (mc),
  • American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC or bm),
  • POW/MIA Accounting Agency (pm), and
  • States Lists (na, from National Archives)  sites.
For unit abbreviations, see the 'Glossary of U.S. Naval Abbreviations", OPNAV 29-P1000 made available online by Hyperwar.

In the case of the ABMC and some other entries, dates for those missing in action (MIA) are later than their actual or assumed death, usually a minimum of one year and a day, and often more.

The entries for each name (separated by +) will not be amalgamated nor duplicated information removed, until all main sources have been accessed. At that time, any discrepancies in information or spellings will be researched. As names, ranks and dates may differ, it is not always easy to ensure the right entries are assigned to a given name. The main sources still to be accessed are the Department of Veteran Affairs, Arlington National Cemetery and private cemetery sources.

Casualties arranged in date order, as well as background to battles and actions from the official USMC Chronology, are being added at:
