Pendant Nos. D.58 (1914), no pendant. assigned (9.15). Launched 19.7.94 Portsmouth DY. 5,600 tons, 373(oa), 350(pp)x53x19ft. TE 9600ihp, 19.5kts. Armament: 11-6in, 8-12pdr, 3-18in tt. Armour: 2.5in deck, 3in guns. 12th CS 1914-15, accommodation ship 1915-18, including depot ship 1916. Sold 8.21 Cohen. (British Warships 1914-1919)

Class of nine ships, Eclipse built by Portsmouth Dockyard, launched 19 July 1894, completed March 1897, 5,600 tons, 373ft long, armed with 11-6in/8-12pdr guns, 19 knots, 450 crew.

In reserve at Portsmouth in 1906, and attached to RN College, Osborne in 1907-12. Joined 3rd Fleet at Portsmouth 1912-13 and then at Devonport 1913-14. Escorted new Australian submarines AE I and AE 2 part-way to Singapore early in 1914, and after outbreak of war joined Cruiser Force 'G' in Channel, capturing a German merchantman on 10 August 1914 and another on 10 September. Joined 12th Cruiser Squadron in February 1915 but reduced to accommodation ship for submarine flotillas by 1916. Laid up at Devonport 1918-19. Sold August 1921 to Cohen for breaking-up.
